Why soybean candles?

Well, I'm glad you asked! These beauties burn up to 50% longer than those nasty paraffin candles. Soy candles burn clean and do not pollute the air. All of our candles are made using pure Ecosoya wax, which is made of pesticide and herbicide free NON Genetically Modified soybeans. These soybeans are also grown by farmers in the USA. Ecosoya wax is bio-degradable, cruelty free, and made from a renewable, sustainable source ~ the soybean.

Why not paraffin?

Paraffin is a by-product of crude oil refining. Burning paraffin wax creates petroleum-carbon soot which contains about 11 carcinogenic (cancer causing) compounds. Paraffin is non-renewable, non-biodegradeable. And did I mention that the wicking of most paraffin candles contains lead and other toxic metals? Please, please don't use paraffin candles. Using no candle at all is better for you than burning a toxic candle. And when you are looking to buy candles ALWAYS know what the wicking is made from, and be aware of synthetic fragrances which are also harmful to your health. Due to the health hazards of traditional wicking such as lead and zinc cores, and the overwhelming amount of chemicals with which cotton is treated, I chose to make my candles using hemp wicks. Hemp is a sustainable crop which is grown without pesticides and is not treated with chemicals after harvest due to its continuing disease and insect resistance.
